Looking Beyond

Looking Beyond

Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

👴🏾: Doris, who are you?

👩🏾: Pa Joe, I am Doris.

👴🏾: Is that who you really are?

👩🏾: Okay. My name is Doris and I am a great engineer.

👴🏾: Hmm. Doris there’s more to you than that. Just look beyond what you see.

👩🏾: Really?

👴🏾: Yes. You are more than just an engineer. Your profession doesn’t totally define you. It’s just a part of who you are.

👩🏾: Hmm.

👴🏾: I know this might sound strange to you, Doris, but when you see you, you only see an engineer. But that’s not the whole you, it’s just a part of who you are.

👩🏾: So who do you think I am, Pa Joe?

👴🏾: Good question. Doris, your identity is not only found in your profession, although your profession defines a part of you. Your true identity is found in your Creator.

👩🏾: My Creator?

👴🏾: Yes. Your Creator. The Bible makes us know that we were created in the image of God, according to Genesis 1:27 (So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.) The Bible also tells us in 1Peter 2:9 (But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.)

👩🏾: Deep!

👴🏾: Yes dear. This is a mystery. For a person to discover his or her true identity, that person must come to his Creator who has a reason for creating the creature. Our professions, ethnic groups, nationalities, cultures, etc, don’t totally define us. They only tell a fraction of who we are. Our true and total identity can only be found in our Creator.

👩🏾: Thanks Pa Joe for this insight. Thanks for making me know that my identity is not only found in my profession, but in my Creator. For my profession is just a fraction of who I am.

👴🏾: You’re welcome, Doris. I enjoin you to draw closer to your Creator and find your true identity in Him, so that you will fulfill your purpose in life. He loves you and so He is the best person to define you. I am glad this has blessed you and this reader.
